What are progressive lenses?
Progressive lenses, also called "no-line multifocals", are a type of lens used to provide visual correction for a common condition called presbyopia. These lenses enable patients to see near, far and in between. There have been significant technological changes in recent years, which have given patients greatly increased satisfaction. One of the newest advancements is digital surfacing (also called "free-form") which allows lenses to be manufactured with greater precision and accuracy. Digital surfacing, as well as, other improvements in lens materials and treatments have made lenses thinner, lighter and clearer. We order our "no line" lenses from only the highest quality manufacturers of progressive lenses.
What is glare and how can it be reduced?
Glare can be described as extreme brightness from the presence of excessive stray light that can appear from headlights while driving, overhead fluorescent lights and even computer screens. It can cause discomfort relating to eye strain and eye fatigue, but in some cases it can cause temporary blindness. Anti-reflective (anti-glare) lenses are the best solution by allowing the light, but not the glare through, making your vision clearer and more comfortable.
Is the anti-reflective option coated on to my lenses?
No, the lenses are ordered with the anti-reflective properties included, which allows them to be more scratch resistant and optically efficient. They are also hydrophobic which means that they repel water. The best feature of this lens is that glare doesn't reflect off the lens, allowing it to appear virtually invisible. Your eyes will be seen, not the reflection.
